Alex Day is a researcher, artist and curator based in Manchester. They are the Accessibility Officer at the North West Film Archive, where they are leading a project to highlight disabled and neurodivergent history and heritage in film. In their Emerging Curators Group research, they are exploring accessibility barriers to creative arts and heritage settings. They will investigate the impact that access has on the representation of disabled, neurodivergent, d/Deaf and mentally unwell artists.
They previously assisted with the curation and delivery of multiple exhibitions at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery. In 2023, they completed a one-year training programme covering multiple areas of museum practice, with a specialism in Modern and Contemporary Art Curation.
Alex graduated with a First-Class Joint BA (hons) in Fine Art and Art History in 2017. Before their career in culture and heritage, Alex was a teacher and youth support worker.
