Jun Zhang

Jun Zhang is a PhD candidate at the University of York. Her doctoral thesis title is “Avant-garde Artworks Based on Chinese characters since the 85 New Wave”. Her expertise is in researching contemporary practices with close attention to social politics. Her wider research interests include late modernism, avant-gardism, and posthumanism, with a focus on the intersections of art and politics, art and society, and art and technology. She currently works part-time in the Global Partnerships team at the University of York, assisting with research and general support relating to the university’s international engagement. She also previously worked as Associate Editor at the Aspectus: A Journal of Visual Culture, University of York. Prior to joining the University of York, she was an editor in the Research and Curation Department at the Guangdong Museum of Art in China.
