Abbie Griffiths

Abbie Griffiths is an artist, curator, and arts manager specialising in community building and collections care and management. Abbie holds a degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and trained in traditional methods of painting and sculpture at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Her artistic practice is primarily sculpture based, using construction and household insulation materials to create abstracted figurative works. She has exhibited in North America and Africa.

Abbie is the co-founder of Crit Haven, a USA based non-profit organization and the founder of a London based artist-led initiative that will launch in 2023. She currently manages the archive, and marketing and communications for the Artists’ General Benevolent Institution (AGBI) and produces their temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists and archival material. Prior to this, Abbie was the Senior Conservation Assistant at the Yale Center for British Art where she conducted conservation treatment for paper and heritage/textile objects and managed the Integrated Pest Management Programme. Abbie’s curatorial practice is focused on creating platforms and spaces to exchange and reflect on historical narratives and cultural perspectives, highlight working-class experiences, and elevating underrepresented artists.
