Alexandra Hodby

Dr Alexandra Hodby is Senior Curator of Programme at Chatsworth, responsible for exhibitions programmes in the house and garden, and leads on collection research.

Prior to this, Alex was a Research Curator at Museums Sheffield, and has worked as a curator at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. In 2016, she completed an AHRC funded collaborative PhD with Tate and Goldsmiths which focussed on the Public Programme and ideas about learning and democracy in public art museums. She has taught on the idea of the future museum and art museum curating with Tate and Kings College London.

Alex has also served on the boards of theatre company, Quarantine (Manchester), and artists’ studios 36 Lime Street (Newcastle).

Alex’s interests are in making art public and working with artists to activate historic or complex spaces. Her interests lie in contemporary art that intersects with historic locations and the activation of collections through exhibitions and public programme.
