Laura McSorley

Laura McSorley (she/her) is an independent curator and organizer. Through time spent on the committee of artist-led gallery GENERATORprojects– she developed a deep curatorial interest in the ecologies and legacies of Scottish artist-led and DIY activity. Predominantly how it highlights and creates space for practitioners to develop between the precarious limbo of ’emerging’ and ’emerged’.

Through the ECG, she aims to research the possibilities of non-hierarchical, accessible and feminist driven models to explore how hidden energies of care and exchange have affected a politics of labour, community and shared knowledge. Laura is driven by a desire to build curatorial recipes that allow for intimate, collaborative and visceral experiences that make room for knowledge to be shared and encountered in non-visual and sensory ways.

Laura is currently working as a programme assistant for the Edinburgh Art Festival.
