Dr Marina Velez Vago is an artist, researcher, and curator, based in Cambridge, UK. She currently lectures in Fine Art at undergraduate and postgraduate level at Norwich University of the Arts and ICE, University of Cambridge. Marina is also the founder and organiser of Cambridge Sustainability Residency for Artists and the founder and curator of the Sustainability Art Prize in the creative curriculum at Anglia Ruskin University. She has co-edited two books about art and sustainability, MILK. and ROAR.
Marina is one of the two coordinator of Circle 7 at the Nordic Summer University, where she leads investigations of the experiential in art, artistic research, methodologies, processes, and theories.
Marina’s research is informed by feminist theories, other knowledges, and art practice enquiries, and it explores how art can create spaces for dialogical actions, with which to map out cartographies of experiences to cognise the self and the environment. She employs photography, video, and working-with strategies, with special focus on sustainability, decolonising and environmental issues, make visible values, traces of affect and kin in a multi-species nature continuum.
Her doctoral research title is ‘Exploring value, meaning and worth through five art projects in rural Spain’.
