Mary Stevens is a curator and researcher currently based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She is currently the Exhibitions Officer at Golden Thread Gallery Belfast where, over the past 5 years, she has contributed to many major exhibitions. She recently co-curated Hold On Tight (an exhibition of female performance artists, November 2022) and curated I Can Never Nail the Days Down in January 2023.
Previously, Mary worked at the University of Atypical (formerly Arts and Disability forum) the MAC Belfast, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and was a Co-Director of Catalyst Arts Belfast for two years. Mary is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh (MSc) and the University of Ulster (BA Hons).
Mary is interested in developing meaningful connections and collaborations between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK and Ireland and is currently expanding her role at Golden Thread Gallery to develop a permanent collection of contemporary Northern Irish art.
