Peter Harrap (born 1975) is a British Romanian artist and curator. He lives and works in John Constable’s studio in Brighton.
Peter is working towards a PhD on ‘Walking, Painting and Poetry’ at the George Enescu National University of the Arts, Iasi, Romania and as a researcher at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL.
His exhibitions include ‘Beyond Other Horizons’ British Council/ Romanian Cultural Institute exhibition,2020, to mark the centenary of the birth of Paul Celan, ‘Constable and Brighton: Something out of Nothing’ 2017, Brighton Museum and ‘No New Thing Under the Sun’, Royal Academy of Arts, L ondon, 2010.
Peter is currently working alongside the Romanian Cultural Institute/ British Council in an academic capacity building an educational program relating to Constable/ Grigorescu. Peter is also planning the ‘Constable 250th’ celebrations with Emma Roodhouse curator at Christchurch Mansion, Colchester in 2026.
Peter exhibits his own paintings internationally.
