Sash Giles curates the Decorative Arts collections of the Dukes of Devonshire primarily at Chatsworth; with a special focus on gems, jewels and contemporary ceramics. She also contributes to the curation of exhibitions, most recently 2021’s Life Stories and 2023’s Mirror Mirror.
Chatsworth has a growing collection of work by contemporary artists, several of whom have held residencies and made work to commission- developing artist relationships is a cherished part of Sash’s role.
Prior to Chatsworth Sash spent ten years with the National Trust in various roles encompassing houses & collections and project management, notably delivering a project re-presenting a suite of rooms commissioning the reproduction of textiles newly identified by Sash.
With a background in both archaeology and art history Sash holds MA’s from both UCL and the Open University, the latter exploring attitudes to the unclothed female body in the work of painter William Etty.
