Sebastian May is a practicing artist and environmental activist. His work focuses on how contemporary art can find solutions to social issues including environmental pollution, social inequity, education and health. His practice centres around climate change mitigation through projects that connect people with art in their day-to-day lives.
As a researcher and writer, Sebastian specialises in Land Art, including earthworks and environmental art, and how institutions support the making, exhibiting, curation and conservation of Land Art works. He is particularly interested in bridging the gap between the early origins of 1950s and 1960s Land Art and contemporary environmental works.
Sebastian has over a decade of professional experience working across the creative industries and is currently working as Student Experience Lead for the University of the Arts London. His previous creative projects having included campaigning for the visual arts sector, including external and internal communications, branding, art direction, creative content production, campaign management and marketing. As a campaign manager, he has a successful record of designing and producing multi-media content (on and off-line) for international audiences, including large-scale events for international audiences.
