Dr Sylwia Serafinowicz is Chief Curator at a/political, public speaker and writer. Serafinowicz was born in Warsaw, spent a year studying at Paris VII and working at the Pompidou Centre before settling in London in 2010. Serafinowicz sees exhibitions and public programmes as a platform to advocate for human rights and against discrimination, inequality, and violence. Serafinowicz graduated with a PhD in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and an MA in History of Art from the University of Warsaw, Poland. Her PhD thesis was dedicated to the dynamic relationship between photography, sculpture, and performance. Curated exhibitions include We Protect You From Yourselves featuring collectives Democracia and Syrena, solo shows by Kendall Geers, Franko B, kennardphillipps, Shikeith, Chila Kumari Burman, Ewa Axelrad, Daniel Malone, and numerous group shows, including Labor Relations, 2016 and Wild at Heart, 2018. Serafinowicz is a published author of essays and reviews. Her texts appeared in Artforum, Afterall Art School, OZY, Contemporary Lynx, Not. Fot, Art and Documentation amongst other outlets. She is a member the Executive Committee of AICA UK.
