Thea Batty is Welsh emerging curator, educator, and textile repair specialist who has recently completed her MA in Fine Art: Curatorial Practices at Bath Spa University. With a background in textile design, art, and fashion history; Thea is committed to challenging fast fashion practices, specifically unethical labour rights and greenwashing. This has been confronted through archival research, contemporary exhibitions, and workshops.
As an independent, Thea collaborates with The Museum of East Asian Art in Bath, creating future events centred around participatory workshops / seminars on Eastern and Western Repair Cultures in fashion and art practises. At the core of her practise is a radically empathic approach towards researching and curating as a social practice, prioritising care.
