Call for Applicants: Graduate Summer Programme, Paul Mellon Centre for British Art Studies

The Graduate Summer Programme (GSP) is a lively research and practice-led two-week programme of workshops, discussions, and encounters with historical archives and contemporary practice.

The 2024 Programme, “Are We Postcolonial?” will take place between 15–26 July over two weeks in the UK and South Africa. In the first week, participants will be based in London with trips to other places in the United Kingdom. In the second week, participants will travel to Cape Town and Johannesburg. The programme is fully funded, and all travel and accommodation costs are covered.

You can apply if you are currently enrolled as:

  • a PhD student in the Yale History of Art Department
  • an MFA student in the Yale School of Art
  • a doctoral researcher at a history of art programme in the UK
  • a graduate level art student enrolled at an art school in the UK
  • a doctoral researcher at a history of art programme in South Africa
  • a graduate level art student enrolled at an art school in South Africa

The summer school will host twelve students in total. A mix of doctoral students enrolled in history of art programmes across the UK, art students enrolled at art schools across the UK, PhD students from the Yale History of Art Department, MFA students from the Yale Art School, doctoral students enrolled in history of art programmes across South Africa, and art students enrolled at art schools across South Africa. The programme will take place between 15–26 July 2024.
