It is a pleasure to share the Call for Papers for a special issue of Art and the Public Sphere Journal. The special issue is entitled ‘Painting the Town Red? The Contemporary Legacies of One Hundred Years of Public Muralism and the Left’. We are seeking contributions from art historians, anthropologists, historians, sociologists, and any others interested in exploring the mural form’s interrelationships with left politics and the public sphere across the past 100 years. While global in focus we welcome contributions from BAN scholars. Please do also share with any interested parties or wider networks.
Deadline for abstracts (please send 200-word abstracts and specify approximate length of proposed submission): 15 February 2022
If you would like to discuss or propose an abstract please contact Warren Carter, Jody Patterson and Ben Wiedel-Kaufmann
The journal will be published in November / December 2022.
