Job Opportunity: Curator, Exhibitions and Displays, Tate St Ives

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced art Curator to work at the heart of a world-renowned and award-winning public art gallery in the beautiful location of St Ives, West Cornwall.

Working within the Programme team at Tate St Ives, we are seeking someone with substantial and relevant knowledge of 20th century modern British art and a broad understanding of global modern and contemporary art, with experience of leading on displays and solo/group exhibitions within a museum, art gallery, or with a collection.

As Curator, Exhibitions & Displays, you’ll take a lead role in programming and research relating to the histories of modernism and St Ives, as well as the work and legacy of the British sculptor, Barbara Hepworth, along with devising and delivering relevant temporary exhibitions and display refreshes. You’ll demonstrate excellent writing skills, and a commitment to, and experience of, engaging broad and diverse audiences as well as a specialist readership. Your excellent interpersonal skills mean that you can deal effectively and confidently at all levels and act as a role model for Tate values across the organisation. You’ll also have a proactive approach to promoting the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion and be able to show evidence of having incorporated these strategies into your working practices. Above all, you’ll have a collaborative approach to team working in a busy environment, with proven project management experience and excellent organisational, planning and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple activities with patience and empathy, even when under pressure.
