Turner’s House Job Opportunity

Museum Director
Part time (2 days per week including some weekend work), 1 year fixed-term contract with possibility of extension
Salary: £37,500 per annum (pro rata). 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata)

Sandycombe Lodge in Twickenham (“Turner’s House”) is a Grade 2* listed house designed by J.M.W. Turner for his own use. It has been open to the public as an independent museum since 2017. 

We are looking for an accomplished professional with heritage experience to be our Museum Director. This role is an opportunity to lead Turner’s House at an exciting time and make a real difference as the organisation looks to secure its long-term future.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leading on strategy, planning, marketing and fundraising
  • Maximising income potential through private/corporate hires of the house, fundraising activities, partnerships, PR and marketing opportunities
  • Supervising the small team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the House.
  • Managing the Operations Manager, the Learning & Volunteer Officer and other team members to ensure a high standard of customer service and visitor experience
  • Serving on the Board of Trustees
  • Ensuring the house is staffed during opening hours and private events by working on a rota with the Operations Manager and the Learning & Volunteer Officer
