Charlotte Keenan McDonald is Lead Curator of Fine Art for National Museums Liverpool, based at the Walker Art Gallery. She leads the Queer British Art research group, part of the British Art Network. Her research interests include feminist and queer art histories and socially-engaged art practices. She is currently interested in documenting LGBT+ art exhibitions from the 1967 onwards.
In 2017, Charlotte curated the major contemporary art exhibition Coming Out: Sexuality, Gender & Identity, drawn from the Arts Council Collection and the Walker’s collection, to mark the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of male homosexuality in England and Wales. In 2018-19 she was a member of the Arts Council Collection’s acquisition committee.
Charlotte studied Art History and English Literature at the University of Sussex and completed her Masters in Art History there in 2009.
