Social Justice Curating, 2 November 2022

2 November 2022

Categorised:

The seminar was structured around an informal, closed workshop with participants before developing into a public panel discussion held at London School of Communication. The participants included Mark Sealy, Director of Autograph; Dr Maggie Matić, curator, writer and researcher; Marie Smith, visual artist and writer; Becky Warnock, artist and organiser;  Heather Agyepong visual artist, performer and actor and Angela YT Chan, curator and artist. The discussion was centred around the provocation: ‘What is next? How do we turn intentions into actions through social justice practice and curation’. The workshop and talk brought together artists and curators working in different areas of the sector, focusing on climate justice work, social justice practice, mental health and contemporary feminist and queer visual culture to discuss their own practice and ways to work collaboratively towards social justice work. If we stepped outside of organisational structures and constraints, what could we create if we all came together?
